About this cigar
Hoyo de Monterrey is a current pre-Revolution brand, established in 1865. The range comprises light strength cigars, using tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo region. For many people the Epicure No.2 is a long-established favourite and a popular ‘turn to' cigarHoyo de Monterrey owes its origin to the town of San Juan y Martinez, which lies at the heart of the Vuelta Abajo zone.
Here the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, one of the great Vegas de Primera, can be reached through a gate on the town's main square inscribed "Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960.""Hoyo" literally means "hole" and in this case describes the low-lying position of the plantation on the fertile banks of San Juan y Martinez river.
Jose Gener, a Spaniard from Tarragona, first used the name of his vega on a brand of Habanos in 1865. The flavour of Hoyo de Monterrey's cigars are typically medium strength blends, very popular with cigar smokers in the trade as well as customers offering a classic cuban flavour, rich and slightly spicy flavour. A long standing favourite amongst the admirers of this classic Corona Gorda.
Lighter tasting than the Punch Punch or Cohiba Siglo IV, but plenty of fragrant complexity nonetheless.

Is this box genuine English Market Selection stock?
Yes. Our Hoyo de Monterrey cigars come through Hunters and Frankau, the official UK importer for Habanos S.A. Every box carries the green EMS stamp, and UK duty and VAT are already paid.
How will it be packed?
It goes out in a sealed pouch with a free Boveda 69% humidity pack, which holds the cigars at roughly 65 to 70% humidity while they are in transit. We ship Royal Mail Tracked 24, or Special Delivery if you would rather.
How should I store it once it arrives?
Keep it in a humidor or an airtight box with a 65% or 69% Boveda pack, somewhere around 18 to 20°C. British houses get very dry in winter once the heating goes on, so a sealed container makes a real difference.
